“…Metal–organic self-assemblies, such as metal–organic cages, are frequently built using the pyridinyl group as a powerful ligand 6 , 41 , 64 66 . It was believed that using macrocycles with pyridinyl groups as their building blocks was an efficient way to create specific topological structures with large cavities.…”

“…[32][33][34][35] To date, many attempts have been made to develop a variety of transition metal(II) complexes by tuning metal ions and ligands; metal-ligand coordination bonds can be designed with interesting structures and desirable properties for various applications. [36][37][38][39][40][41][42] Flexible nitrogen donor ligands have been studied extensively over the last years [43][44][45] and have been applied in the fields of catalysis, 46 medicinal chemistry, 47 and materials science. 48 Considering the perfect coordination ability of the pyridine group, a series of bipyridine derivatives and a novel metal bipyridine complex sensor for the detection of polar solvents have been investigated in this work.…”

“…Previous studies have examined the synthesis and dynamics of various designed Pd(II)-based supramolecular architectures as the structural analogues of metallacalixarenes with imidazoles as neutral and anionic ligands. However, the controllable self-assembly of structural analogues of metallacalixarenes using varied cis-protecting Pd(II) units and/or counteranions has attracted limited attention. , In this study, two types of N-containing compounds with thiophene and imidazolate groups as organic ligands (Figure ) were designed and four Pd(II) components with or without a π-cloud in the cis-protecting units as well as nitrate/hexafluorophosphate as counteranions were used. The results indicate that the differences in ligands, Pd(II) components, and counteranions influenced the construction and configuration of supramolecular structures via intermolecular interactions.…”
