“…So far, only a few studies have investigated the luminescence properties of Eu 3+ and Tb 3+ coordination compounds with CAPh ligands. “…In the emission spectrum of 1-Eu , three peaks observed for the 5 D 0 → 7 F 1 transition and one peak observed for the 5 D 0 → 7 F 2 transition may suggest a distorted D 4 d symmetry . Such a high symmetry of the europium­(III) ion environment is not typical for known CAPh- and SAPh-based tetrakis complexes, for which the red/orange ratio lies in the range 3–9. The band of the 5 D 0 → 7 F 4 transition dominates in the spectra under study, which is not typical for europium coordination compounds, and has never been observed before for SAPh-based europium­(III) complexes. However, for CAPh-based europium­(III) complexes, some luminescent spectra with a high intensity of the 5 D 0 → 7 F 4 transition were reported recently. ,, Such an abnormally high intensity observed for the 5 D 0 → 7 F 4 transition is a consequence of the behavior of the Ω λ intensity parameters in a highly polarizable chemical environment with local symmetry, corresponding to a coordination polyhedron that is slightly distorted from D 4 d . , The 1-Eu complex also exhibited 5 D 1 emission, as displayed in Figure S2.…”
