Coordinated Model Predictive-Based Power Flows Control in a Cooperative Network of Smart Microgrids

Abstract: In this paper, a model predictive control (MPC) for the optimal power exchanges in a smart network of power microgrids (MGs) is presented. The main purpose is to present an innovative control strategy for a cluster of interconnected MGs to maximize the global benefits. A MPC-based algorithm is used to determine the scheduling of power exchanges among MGs, and the charge/discharge of each local storage system. The MPC algorithm requires information on power prices, power generation, and load forecasts. The MPC … Show more

“…This will further reduce the need for large energy storage systems and provide cost savings for the prosumers participating in the cooperation. In that regard, energy trading through cooperation among microgrids [24,[90][91][92][93][94][95] can be motivated through Nash bargaining theory [27]. Furthermore, Ref.…”

“…Alessandra Parisio et al [53,54] implemented a mixed integer linear programming (MILP), a model predictive control (MPC) approach of optimization in microgrid operation. MPC -MILP control economically optimizes the microgrid operation and computational burden by using commercial solvers without decomposition techniques.…”

“…In [4], prospect theory has been proposed to formulate a static game between autonomous microgrids that are trading energy. An approach for cooperative power control in a network of interconnected microgrids is proposed in [5]. A problem for energy trading among islanded microgrids is formulated in [6].…”
