English teachers and students face difficulties grasping the meaning, leading to misunderstanding. This study aims to analyses the use of conversational implicature focusing on instructional communication in an English classroom. The research used qualitative methodology and descriptive analysis as the design. The instrument consisted of observations and documentation. The research data used video recording during an English classroom process. The participants of this study involved an English teacher and students in grade 5 at an Islamic private elementary school. This study used an interactive analysis model consisting of collection, reduction, conclusion and verification. This study indicated that English teachers and students used the four maxims of conversational implicature focusing on instructional communication, with 18 utterances. The maxim of quantity consisted of 3 utterances. The maxim of relation consisted of 5 utterances. The maxim of manner consisted of 4 utterances. The most dominant conversational implicature was the maxim of quality consisting of 6 utterances. It showed that the interaction between English teachers and students needs to provide factual and accurate information. Therefore, it becomes necessary for English teachers and students to understand the language's meaning in instructional communication by involving the conversational implicature or four maxims, particularly in elementary school.

According to the theory of active education and Mathematics teaching in secondary schools, there are five steps designed for geometrical knowledge and four stages for the process of applying the examined circumstances. The research objective aims to evaluate the effectiveness and feasibility of the suggestion focused on the process of constructing and manipulating situations in teaching Geometry. The research method uses the case study in the specific teaching process, which was conducted with 24 teachers who have taught Mathematics at secondary schools over three months from August 2019 to October 2019; and 30 secondary school students between May 2020 and July 2020. Finally, the result shows that all teachers agree that the design and application process is appropriate and effective for their lesson. In terms of the student's aspect, the case study reveals that the application of various steps in the process is beneficial for improving geometric deductive and spatial estimation, as well as using theoretical knowledge in the practical situation. Based on the research, this paper will clarify some solutions related to the way to design processes and utilize them in some Geometry content in secondary schools in Vietnam.

Grice promotes four maxims to obey as the requirements for successful communication, including quality, quantity, relevance, and manner. However, several conditions require breaking the maxims to make communication more effective, including an interaction between teachers and students. The gender of the students and the practice of online classes also contribute to the breaking of maxims. Hence, this study aims to examine the breaking of Grice maxims in the online classroom interaction between the teacher and students of different genders. The communication between an English teacher and her students in an online class was observed to gather the data. Then, the results were analyzed qualitatively. Finally, this study found that teachers’ interaction with students of both genders produced flouting of quantity maxim. The teacher’s interaction with the female students flouted quantity, relevance, and manner maxims which is caused by the cooperative communication leading females to talk a lot, while the teacher's interaction with male students flouted the quality, relevance, and manner maxims, which is caused by the dominance that males tend to show to female. Moreover, the flouting of maxims made positive and negative results in the communication. Lastly, a more extended period study is suggested to produce further findings.
