Electric vehicles (EVs) are at the forefront of the revolutionized eco-friendly invention in the transportation industry. With automated metering infrastructure (AMI) communications in houses, smart EV charging stations, and smart building management systems in smart grid-oriented power system, EVs are expected to contribute substantially in overall energy planning and management both in the grid and the customer premises. This chapter investigates and provides an in-depth analysis on the charge/discharge management of EV in vehicle to home (V2H), vehicle to drive (V2D), vehicle to vehicle (V2V), vehicle to grid (V2G), vehicle-tobuilding (V2B), and grid to vehicle (G2V). The planning and control of energy exchange of EV is the main focus considering EV availability in multiple places during the daytime and in the evening. Indisputably, EV participating in V2G or V2H affects the state of charge (SOC) of EV battery, and therefore proper scheduled charge/discharge plan needs to be embraced. The structures of EV in various operation modes and approaches are presented for implementing the energy planning and charge/discharge management of EV in different operation modes. Closest Energy Matching: Improving peer‐to‐peer energy trading auctions for EV owners

Herein, a novel approach to conduct peer-to-peer energy auctions for electric vehicles (EVs) to benefit both buyers and sellers is presented. It considers a scenario where households can sell their surplus solar energy to visiting EVs that make use of the households' vacant charge points during the day. The aim of the energy trading is to maximise the amount of charge EVs receive from the solar energy, and increase the revenue for sellers. The novel Closest Energy Matching (CEM) double auction mechanism is proposed and it is compared with four other mechanisms. CEM allows the auction to take into account current energy requests as well as the potential future demand without requiring additional information. A novel algorithm, MARMES (MAtrix Ranking for Maximising Element Selection), is also presented to solve the optimisation problem that forms the basis of the CEM mechanism. The CEM mechanism on average results in 21.5% more solar energy used, lower cost to the consumer, a 24.9% increase in profits for sellers and a 71.4% reduction in required grid energy compared with the traditional double auction mechanism. An Economic Penalty Scheme for Optimal Parking Lot Utilization with EV Charging Requirements

In the parking lots of public commercial areas, such as shopping malls, hospitals, and scenic spots, the parking spaces with electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities are often occupied by ordinary cars. How to regulate the parking order in the parking lot is a key issue in the operation and management of the parking facilities. In this paper, a method of assessing parking fees for vehicles parked at the charging facilities is proposed based on an economic penalty strategy, including fixed-penalty and dynamic-penalty strategies. First, a traffic flow model of the parking lot in public area is established. Then, a price and consumption model of parking fees and parking lot utilization is established, along with different penalty strategies. Finally, taking the parking lot of a shopping mall as an example, the penalty strategies are optimized through particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. The simulation results show that the method proposed can help to improve the utilization of EV charging facilities in parking lots and guide the orderly parking and charging of EVs at the same time.
