“…We propose that Illich's (1973) notion of conviviality has parallels with the emergence and growth of the SE. Moreover, we argue that conviviality can be one of the main reasons why the sharing economy's alternative market arrangements are increasingly challenging the current unsustainable economic paradigm (Kilbourne et al, 1997 Conviviality has been considered by recent studies of cosmopolitanism and multicultural, local and national identities (Nowicka andHeil, 2016, Gilroy, 2004), and, more recently, of the sharing economy (Marovelli, 2018).
