“…Some common species of this genus include Convolvulus lineatus L. (Berjano et al, ; Gapparov, Razzakov, Abdullabekov, & Aripova, ), Convolvulus prostratus Forssk. (Bihaqi, Sharma, Singh, & Tiwari, ; Kizhakke, Olakkaran, Antony, Tilagul, & Hunasanahally, ), Convolvulus althaeoides L. (Cabrita, ; Tawaha, Alali, Gharaibeh, Mohammad, & El‐Elimat, ), Convolvulus arvensis L. (Al‐Enazi, ), and Convolvulus pilosellifolius Desr. (Al‐Enazi, ; Al‐Rifai et al, ; Awaad et al, ).…”

“…The pharmacological potential of these plants comes from their chemical constituents with biological activities. Pharmacological activities were reported on some Convolvulus species such as the use of C. pilosellifolius as an antiulcerogenic (Atta, Mohamed, Nasr, & Mouneir, ; Awaad et al, ), C. arvensis and C. pilosellifolius inhibited tumor growth (Al‐Enazi, ; Meng et al, ), and C. prostratus against Alzheimer's disease (Kizhakke et al, ) and treat stress‐induced neurodegeneration (Rachitha et al, ), while C. prostratus for preventing aluminum‐induced neurotoxicity (Bihaqi et al, ). Indeed, the significance of Convolvulus plants is not only for medicinal applications but also for ancient and religious significance because it reminded people of certain aspects of their gods and goddesses (Austin, ).…”

“…Interestingly, the Shankhpushpi syrup and its isolated compounds (Scopoletin and Bacoside A) also exhibited evident anti-oxidant activity as evaluated by using DPPH assay with average IC 50 value ranging from 0.94 -2.39% v/v (Jain et al, 2017;Rachitha et al, 2018). Furthermore, the aqueous extract of CP roots diminished the endogenous levels of reactive oxygen species in tauopathy flies as i n d u c e d b y o v e r e x p r e s s i o n o f t -p r o t e i n , t h e r e b y substantiating its oxidative stress ameliorative effect (Olakkaran and Antony, 2017).…”

“…It has been employed in treatment of dementia, phobias and insomnia, and successfully tried in PD cases 53 . C. pluricaulis also has been found to ameliorate tau induced neurotoxicity in Alzheimer's disease 54 . Our results suggest that C. pluricaulis majorly derives its neuroprotective properties through a robust antioxidant Sp.…”
