Convolutional Neural Network with Hyperparameter Tuning for Brain Tumor Classification

Abstract: Brain tumor has been acknowledged as the most dangerous disease through all its circles. Early identification of tumor disease is considered pivotal to identify the spread of brain tumors in administering the appropriate treatment. This study proposes a Convolutional Neural Network method to detect brain tumor on MRI images. The 3264 datasets were undertaken in this study with detailed images of Glioma tumor (926 images), Meningioma tumors (937 images), pituitary tumors (901 images), and other with no-tumors (… Show more

“…A deep network is developed for brain tumor classification on the Kaggle dataset, and it provides an accuracy of 97.87% [ 67 ]. The CNN model is trained on the tuned hyperparameters using the Kaggle dataset, and it gives an accuracy of 96.0% [ 68 ]. GRU, LSTM, RNN, and CNN models are used as base learner with a min-max fuzzy classifier for classification, and this provides an accuracy of 95.24% [ 69 ].…”

“…In general, brain tumors are divided into two types, namely benign tumors, and malignant tumors [1], the tumor grade range is 1 to 4. Benign tumors based on the rate of growth and the way of spreading are in grades 1 to 2 and do not have the potential to become malignant tumors [6].…”

“…With a size of 1,350cc, the brain has more than 100 million nerve cells, which control all human activities. The cerebral cortex refers to the outer part of the human brain that processes sensory performance and produces motor and high-level cognitive activities [1]. Therefore, the brain becomes one of the most important organs in supporting human life.…”
