Convection of Moist Saturated Air: Analytical Study

Abstract: Abstract:In the present work, the steady-state stationary thermal convection of moist saturated air in a lower atmosphere has been studied theoretically. Thermal convection was considered without accounting for the Coriolis force, and with only the vertical temperature gradient. The analytical solution of geophysical fluid dynamics equations, which generalizes the formulation of the moist convection problem, is obtained in the two-dimensional case. The stream function is derived in the Boussinesq approximation… Show more

“…In [43] the analytical solution of the two-dimensional model of thermal convection in the atmosphere of absolutely dry air was derived. In [44] the analytical solution was obtained for a two-dimensional model of the moist saturated air convection. Hence, we have analytical solutions for the two-dimensional models of the dry air convection that will be referred to as "sub-cloud" convection, and an analytical solution for the moist air convection model that will be referred to as "cloud" convection.…”

In the present study, we attempt to apply the results of [43,44] to analyze the effects of the characteristics of the near-surface layer of atmosphere on the development of the cloud convection.…”
