Controlled electrochemical synthesis of yttrium (III) hexacyanoferrate micro flowers and their composite with multiwalled carbon nanotubes, and its application for sensing catechin in tea samples

Abstract: We report the hierarchical growth of yttrium (III) hexacyanoferrate (YHCF), having a shape that resembles that of rose flower petals on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) modified with functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes. The modified GCE displays excellent electrocatalytic activity toward catechin (CA) oxidation. The morphology and impedimetric response of YHCF were optimized by controlling the number of depositing cycles. As-synthesized YHCF micro flower was characterized by thin film X-ray diffraction … Show more

“…Furthermore, they are amenable for miniaturisation and do not suffer from colour interference. Many different electrochemical methods have been developed in literature for the determination of polyphenols [15][16][17][18][19]. The most common electrochemical techniques for the determination of GA have been CV and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), which were also used in this work.…”

“…6 Both CoHCF and CuHCF nanoparticles can be synthesized through the coprecipitation in a solution containing Co 2+ or Cu 2+ and [Fe(CN) 6 ] 3− ions. 77 Especially, the similar structure of these MHCFs can form the basis for the synthesis of mixed MHCFs with a statistical distribution of nitrogen coordinated metal ions. 77 Especially, the similar structure of these MHCFs can form the basis for the synthesis of mixed MHCFs with a statistical distribution of nitrogen coordinated metal ions.…”

“…Many foods contain substances possessing anti‐cancer activity due to their antioxidant properties and ability to form radicals . For instance, green tea contains high amount of catechin (>30 %), resulting in its chemopreventive properties and ability to decrease blood pressure and to reduce a risk of coronary heart diseases . Numerous methods are used for the quantitative analysis of catechin, among them such as spectrophotometry , chemoluminescence , high performance liquid chromatography , mass spectroscopy fluorescence analysis, chronocoulometry, gas chromatography and flow column electrolysis .…”
