Controllable In-Situ Growth of Silver Nanoparticles on Filter Paper for Flexible and Highly Sensitive SERS Sensors for Malachite Green Residue Detection

Abstract: In this work, a series of highly flexible and sensitive surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrates were fabricated by the in-situ growth of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) on polydopamine (PDA) templated filter papers (FPs), based on mussel-inspired surface chemistry. The obtained FP@PDA@AgNPs strips exhibited high sensitivity and reproducibility with Rhodamine 6G (R6G) probe molecules, with a calculated detection limit of approximately 10−10 M. More critically, these FP@PDA@AgNPs strips could be used as… Show more

“…As shown in Figure 3A, a filter paper pretreated with polypolyamine (PDA) was immersed into the [Ag (NH 3 ) 2 ] + solution and stirred for 12 hours with a 100 to 200 r min −1 stirring speed. After washing and drying, AgNPs growth on the paper 56 . The second method is polymerization, by which polymer monomers can form hydrogen bonds with paper.…”

“…In recent years, researchers have demonstrated that paper and other flexible films decorated with plasmonic nanoparticles could be developed for flexible SERS substrate and directly used to swab the analytes. [ 44,125,126 ] It is necessary to identify that the surface roughness of conventional cellulose films would influence the uniformity of SERS activity. To solve the above problem, Tian et al.…”

“…Metal nanoparticles (MNPs) and metal nanostructures (MNSs) are used for detection purposes in optical biosensors due to their unique optical behaviours. [1][2][3][4][5] Biosensors based on MNPs and MNSs allow simple, rapid, straightforward, and label-free detection of analytes and biomarkers in very low concentrations with high selectivity and sensitivity [6][7][8][9] due to the electromagnetic eld enhancement of the structures. 8,10 The electromagnetic enhancement comes from the coherent oscillation of electron clouds, excited by incident light at the metal/ dielectric interface.…”
