Abstract:GnRH neurons and kisspeptin neurons represent the two neuronal populations of major importance in the control of the reproduction. Sexual steroids have an essential role in the modulation of GnRH neuron network. During the female reproductive cycle, estradiol binds to its receptor expressed by kisspeptin neurons and, exerts both negative and positive feedback at both the central level to alter GnRH release. Many studies of the neurobiological mechanisms underlying estradiol feedback have been done on ovariecto… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
