Control Strategy of 1 kV Hybrid Active Power Filter for Mining Applications

Abstract: The paper presents a shunt hybrid active power filter for 1 kV mining applications in configuration with a single-tuned passive filter. The focus is on the method of controlling the filter, with particular emphasis on the influence of network voltage distortion and time delays in control on the effectiveness of harmonic reduction, which is one of the most important aspect of power quality. The low-power loss configuration of a hybrid filter with SiC transistors is shown, as well as the control algorithm which … Show more

“…The shunt hybrid active power filter (SHAPF) under study in the chapter is a structure known in the literature. It is composed of PHF connected in series with the SAPF (Figure 1) [19,20]. The SAPF when operating alone is always connected to the full-supply phase-to-phase PCC voltage and need for its proper operation, a high rate of inverter DC voltage (e.g., 710 V and more [21,22]).…”

“…The Special Issue "Control Strategies Applied to Active Power Filters" includes four papers [4][5][6][7], which each present completely different aspects of active filter control. These four papers are sufficient to cover the main APF control issues that exist in a wide range of applications.…”

“…The authors in [6] show the example of a control strategy applied to a hybrid active power filter connected to the medium-voltage grid. The main focus is on the HAPF control system with particular emphasis on the influence of grid voltage distortions and time delays in control on the effectiveness of harmonic reduction.…”
