Abstract:Adjoint-based passive flow control is applied to damp the instabilities arising in the three-dimensional incompressible flow over a realistic open cavity with geometric ratio 6:2:1 at low Reynolds number. Direct numerical simulation and TriGlobal stability analysis are performed to identify the complex three-dimensional flow structures corresponding to flow instabilities in this flow. The instability onset is caused by the linear growth of a threedimensional shear layer mode and the structural sensitivity of t… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
