Control of crystal orientation in YBCO thin films by an oxygen diffusion process

Abstract: We report the orientation control of Y Ba2Cu3O7−x (YBCO) thin films with high crystallinity, high critical temperature (Tc) and narrow transition width (ΔTc). YBCO thin films with c-axis orientation, a-axis orientation and (110) orientation are prepared by deposition on SrTiO3 (100) and (110) substrates using a dc magnetron sputtering system. No post-annealing process is introduced. With decreasing deposition rate (Rd), Tc increases and ΔTc narrows, which suggests a linear relation between Rd and the oxyge… Show more

“…The dependence of the transition width on oxygen content has been studied by some groups. For example, Ye and Nakamura [24] and Cogollo et al [25] ascribe the broad resistive transitions of the YBCO bolometers to the amount of oxygen deficiency and Uchiyama et al attribute it to nonuniformity of the oxygen content (7 À d) in the YBCO thin film [26]. We investigated the effect of precipitates on the superconducting transition width.…”
