Control architecture for ATM based switching systems

Abstract

This paper describes an open ended control architecture, optimized for ATH switching systems, which is in line with the Siemens/GPT Vision 0.N.E evolutionary concept.It uses the inherent large throughput capacity of ATH as an ideal interconnect for all distributed control elements.The control is structured in several distinct hierarchical layers with a common software application platform seperating the hardware implementation from features and services. This concept allows for the same ATH periphery complex to be used as a stand alone A!CM product or as an extention to existing Siemens and GPT switching systems for broadband applications.
