Este texto visa contribuir com aqueles que almejam conhecer os fundamentos históricos da noção de Geometria Molecular (GM) e, através disso, olhar criticamente para a questão da organização didática em livros e sequências de ensino. Foi realizado um levantamento histórico na perspectiva epistemológica defendida por Brousseau (1983), em que a compreensão da evolução conceitual do conteúdo visado pelo estudo é alcançada quando há o entrelaçamento de fatos que ajudam a identificar obstáculos que limitaram e/ou limitam a aprendizagem de um dado conteúdo. Trata-se de uma abordagem inédita tanto pelo direcionamento do conteúdo como pela metodologia adotada. A análise histórica permitiu traçar um conjunto de oito obstáculos que por um lado estagnou a evolução do conceito de GM e por outro impulsionou cientistas a buscarem alternativas teóricas e metodológicas para resolver os problemas que foram surgindo ao longo do tempo. O estudo mostrou que a questão da visualização em química e da necessidade de manipulação física de modelos moleculares é constitutiva da própria evolução história da GM. Esse ponto amplifica a necessidade de superação contínua dos obstáculos epistemológicos e cognitivos associados às representações moleculares.

This paper provides information about a multilingual (Portuguese, English, Spanish, Italian, and French) virtual card game for computers and smartphones. Facing the disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, this game allows students to play remotely or face-to-face with friends in a fun and cooperative environment and review the topics related to the structural theory of organic compounds simultaneously. Brazilian and Italian undergraduate students played and evaluated the game positively. Also, learning assessments revealed that the game promotes learning equivalent to the traditional solving-problem classes. Therefore, the game is a playful alternative method to the conventional educational strategies for reviewing the content related to the structural theory of organic compounds in a fun way in a collaborative environment in which the students discuss the answer to each question.

This report provides information about a free-of-charge, trilingual (Portuguese, Spanish, and English) game-based application that engages high school and undergraduate students in reviewing the structural theory of organic compounds in a challenging way. In Time Bomb Game, students must disarm a time bomb on their own by correctly answering random questions from a database with 621 questions. Students and professors have tested and evaluated the app, and the results revealed that the game design, content, playability, and usefulness are helpful as a complementary didactic tool to provide students with the required theoretical knowledge.
