Contributions by Japanese Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University

Abstract: A significant amount of valuable fundamental research has been conducted by Japanese researchers at the Center or Iron and Steelmaking Research (CISR) at Carnegie Mellon University. The work of these researchers, with the author, are reviewed in this paper. Research on ironmaking, steelmaking and refining is included. Examples include fundamentals of iron smelting, refining for phosphorus and nitrogen, slag foaming and the kinetics of various gas-metal reactions.
