“…Whilst age and exposure to cycling are sufficiently documented as variables linked to cyclists' crash risk [6,15,19], much is unknown regarding the nature of cyclists' risk-taking behaviour. In this sense, investigations targeting the full spectrum of cyclists' risky behaviours and predictors of cyclists' risky behaviours are likely to support the development of countermeasures (i.e., public policy and road design) [45].…”

“…The three factors that have been widely considered in the literature are cyclists' age, gender, and exposure to cycling. Generally speaking, older cyclists (particularly those aged over 65) as well as males tend to have a higher crash risk [4,14,15], and cyclists with a greater exposure to cycling (commonly measured by cycling distance, cycling frequency, or cycling time) also have a higher possibility of being involved in crashes [16,17]. Besides, a number of environmental factors regarding the context where the crashes took place, for example, the time of day [18,19] and weather conditions [20], have also been found to be related to cyclists' road safety outcomes.…”

“…Se logró determinar que la accidentalidad es más propensa en hombres que en mujeres Figura 7, por lo cual los bici usuarios hombres tienen mayor nivel de riesgo de accidentalidad que las mujeres. Las mujeres son más precavidas usando este medio de transporte, esto concuerda con el estudio de [19].…”
