Contrast‐enhanced timing robust acquisition order with a preparation of the longitudinal signal component (CENTRA plus) for 3D contrast‐enhanced abdominal imaging

Abstract: Purpose:To investigate a new image acquisition method that enables an accurate hepatic arterial phase definition and the visualization of contrast agent uptake processes in abdominal organs like liver, spleen, and pancreas. Materials and Methods:A 3D turbo gradient echo method where a fat suppression prepulse is followed by the acquisition of several profiles was combined with an elliptical centric k-space ordering technique and 3D dynamic elliptical centric keyhole. The new k-space ordering method (CENTRAϩ) w… Show more

“…We obtained four arterial-phase images at the same level using the "4D THRIVE CENTRA and keyhole" sequence [11][12][13]. In our study, the third-arterial phase was the most common phase (50%, 21/42), showing prominent peritumoral enhancement.…”

“…To the best of our knowledge, studies that have evaluated the histopathological vessel invasion status of HCC based on preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings are limited [9,10]. However, recent protocols such as the THRIVE-CENTRA-keyhole technique have potentially expanded the extent of clinical application of MRI by the acquisition of multiarterial phase dynamic studies, which might allow better evaluation of the dynamic properties of hepatic lesions with rapid perfusion characteristics [11,12].…”

“…The DCE MR imaging can be accelerated (time resolved) by dynamic profile sharing techniques such as dynamic elliptical centric keyhole, to obtain six dynamic scans with 75 slices, a spatial resolution of 2.0 9 2.5 9 2 mm and a temporal resolution of 1.9 s in a single 20 s breath-hold [51].…”
