Contrast-enhanced fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/contrast-enhanced computed tomography in mediastinal T-cell lymphoma with superior vena cava syndrome

Abstract: Positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET/CT) is a routine investigation for the staging of lymphomas. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography is mandatory whenever parenchymal lesions, especially in the liver and spleen are suspected. We report a rare case of primary mediastinal T-cell lymphoma evaluated with contrast-enhanced PET/CT that showed features of superior vena cava syndrome.

“…Imaging modalities show severe dilatation of the SVC, and in extreme cases, this dilation continues along the azygos vein 5,6 . In the literature, a few cases showing 18 F-FDG uptake along the SVC in SVC syndrome were reported 7,8 . However, 18 F-FDG PET/CT findings of azygos vein enlargement have not been documented yet.…”

“…5,6 In the literature, a few cases showing 18 F-FDG uptake along the SVC in SVC syndrome were reported. 7,8 However, 18 F-FDG PET/CT findings of azygos vein enlargement have not been documented yet. We presented a unique case of azygos vein enlargement secondary to SVC syndrome on 18 F-FDG PET/CT.…”
