EVALUATION OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF SURGERY TOTAL KNEE ARTHROPLASTY ASSOCIATED WITH PHYSICAL THERAPY FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF FUNCTIONALITY ABSTRACTThe osteoarthritis (OA) is a disease of progressive degenerative and inflammatory character that affects the joint structures causing pain, disability and loss of mobility. Over 80% of patients with OA have limitations in performing activities of daily living (ADLs), such as mobility inside and outside the home, in the performance of household chores and work, affecting the quality of life. When there is failure of conservative treatment in patients with severe OA are referred for surgery Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA), which involves replacing the entire joint with a metal prosthesis in order to promote pain relief and restoration of knee function. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of TKA surgery associated with physiotherapy from the point of view of functionality in patients postoperative TKA. The study included 25 patients who underwent voluntary surgical TKA performed by the same surgeon and the same type of prosthesis. The study was conducted at the premises of CEOT and UNIMED Physiotherapy clinics located in Aracaju-Sergipe the city. The volunteers who agreed to the survey answered the WOMAC questionnaire on ...
