Continuous and discontinuous time-domain modeling and simulation for DC-DC switching converters

Abstract: This paper introduces a simple and fast method of time domain simulation for switching converters. Different discrete time modeling like Forward, Backward and Trapezoid rules are used. It is shown that the discrete time equations can be derived using dual or oversampling techniques. The methods can be implemented using any computer language programs or mathematical tools. These methods are particularly useful for IC controller designers, application engineers and the end-users. Simulation results are shown for… Show more

“…As the DC-DC converter is modeled, the performance of the elements of the converter as well as the performance of the converter in different operation modes can be investigated in the transient and steady states. Modeling of the DC-DC converter has received a considerable attention and various technical papers have been published in this field (Wu and Chen, 1998;Kondrath and Kazimierczuk, 2010;Capel et al, 1983;Guinjoan et al, 1993;Yousefzadeh, 2010;Chetty, 1982;Li et al, 2010;Maksimovic and Zane, 2007;Ma and Smedley, 1997;Sun et al, 2001;Ramos and Saldana, 2000).…”
