“…Notwithstanding these limitations, our findings are promising and indicate that delivery of an innovative, scalable psychological self-help intervention to large groups of participants in challenging settings is feasible with minimal training and supervision, and was well-received by female participants. As such, the research contributes to a wider consideration of opportunities and challenges associated with the global dissemination of psychological interventions (Fairburn & Patel, 2014 ; White et al , 2017 ). We have planned a small cluster randomized cluster trial to test the feasibility of research procedures, and a fully powered randomized controlled trial as a more rigorous evaluation of the potential benefits of SH+ in South Sudanese women.…”

“…At the same time, ACT also focuses on guiding participants to live in ways consistent with their personal values (Hayes et al , 2011 ). Studies have suggested that ACT may be effectively applied in a self-help format (Cavanagh et al , 2014 ) and in diverse cultural contexts (White et al , 2017 ).…”

“…Global health can be defined as a set of initiatives that promote the scale up of evidence based interventions to improve the quality of service delivery of mental health services, particularly in LMICs (bayetti & Jain, 2017;Jain & Orr, 2016;White, Gregg, Batten, Hayes, & Kasujja, 2017). The initiatives to expand global mental health care delivery are based on the moral and ethical assumptions that anyone should receive attention and care, regardless of their social determinants of health, including location (Kirmayer & Pedersen, 2014;Mason, Kerridge, & Lipworth, 2017;Patel, 2014), and much progress have been made towards improving the mental health care delivery globally (Patel, Boyce, Collins, Saxena, & Horton, 2011).…”

“…Through community trainings and empowering local leaders using ACT principles, Commit and act assisted in disseminating values driven behavior change that allowed communities to honor their deceased loved ones via important burial traditions, while also engaging in behaviors to minimize the spread of infection ( Stewart et al, 2017 ). The work of Commit and act was fundamentally grounded the Prosocial approach mentioned earlier ( Atkins, Wilson, & Hayes, 2019 ) which combines psychological flexibility and Ostrom's CDPs ( Ostrom, 1990 ; 2010 ; see Cox, Arnold, & Tomás, 2010 for an empirical review of studies that tested the application of these principles; and White, Gregg, Batten, Hayes, & Kasujja, 2017 , for a broad overview of how CBS might continue to contribute to global mental health).…”
