In this article, we study activity recognition in the context of sensor-rich environments. We address, in particular, the problem of inductive biases and their impact on the data collection process. To be effective and robust, activity recognition systems must take these biases into account at all levels and model them as hyperparameters by which they can be controlled. Whether it is a bias related to sensor measurement, transmission protocol, sensor deployment topology, heterogeneity, dynamicity, or stochastic effects, it is important to understand their substantial impact on the quality of activity recognition models. This study highlights the need to separate the different types of biases arising in real situations so that machine learning models, e.g., adapt to the dynamicity of these environments, resist to sensor failures, and follow the evolution of the sensors topology. We propose a metamodeling process in which the sensor data is structured in layers. The lower layers encode the various biases linked to transformations, transmissions, and topology of data. The upper layers encode biases related to the data itself. This way, it becomes easier to model hyperparameters and follow changes in the data acquisition infrastructure. We illustrate our approach on the SHL dataset which provides motion sensor data for a list of human activities collected under real conditions. The trade-offs exposed and the broader implications of our approach are discussed with alternative techniques to encode and incorporate knowledge into activity recognition models.

This paper presents a systematic literature review on context-awareness using activity recognition for mitigation of disasters. Disaster preparedness and the method of mitigating it or reduction of causalities are very important in order to save human lives. The review process went through four phases which are: planning, collation, filtration of dataset to get the most relevant materials, exploration and the description based on findings was carried out. The problem with the existing studies are: technology used lack the capacity to give feedback to potential victims, inability to move F.I. Sadiq et al.the technology around, high false negative alarm, low sensor quality for crowd behaviour monitoring. This study used smartphones which is handy and has potential of being carried about. The analysis of the result was presented under three major headings which are publication by year, techniques, results and findings. The result shows the research gap in the area of disaster mitigation and the further study suggests the need to extend context-aware framework for stampede prediction based on activity recognition accuracy used in the previous study.

Abstract-During the treatment process, medical institutes collect context information about their patients and store it in their healthcare systems. The collected information describes the measurable, risk, or medication information and used to improve the performance of the institutes healthcare systems by allowing diverse knowledge about patients. Being said that some other information is needed as they influence patients' life style such as education and income as the high level of education or income reflected positively to the patient's life, and probably resulting in reducing likelihood disease or incidence of infectious diseases. In this paper, a new type of healthcare context information (Social Context) is proposed to address this need. It can be divided into four main categories: related people, behavior, income and education of the patient. We believe that the new proposed context information should be considered in the designing process of the context-aware medical informatics systems beside to the well-known context information.
