Context-aware Cloud-based Mobile Application for Assessment and Training of Visual Cognitive Abilities

Abstract: Abstract-Context-aware mobile applications can adapt to dierent mobile, user and application contexts. Mobile cloud computing has been integrated with those applications to exploit the relatively infinite cloud resources. This paper proposes a context-aware cloud-based MObile application for assessment and training of visual Cognitive Abilities (MOCA). Those abilities, such as the visualization ability of recognizing rotated objects, constitute an integral part of student intelligence. The need to ubiquitousl… Show more

“…Numerous automated and Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) have been developed through the years to help in tutoring students in the absence of teachers or for self-paced learning. They have been developed for the tutoring of probability story problems [18], visual cognitive abilities [19], technical computer skills [20], Arabic word root extraction [21], Structured Query Language (SQL) [22], and LISP [23]. Generally, tutoring systems have been developed for the tutoring of students.…”

“…Technology has made an impact on education in many dimensions, including its positive and negative aspects. Issues that technology support education are supporting students from non-traditional backgrounds by adopting a universal design approach [1], supporting distance learners [2], increased internationalization, delivery of education content on a large scale whilst maintaining support for the individual learner [3]- [5], automation of administrative and academic processes [6], support for academics to create and deliver content suited for all learners [7], and so on. In opposite, technology also deteriorates the quality of education, for example, students have lower concentration and interest in learning [8], the rising cost of education, attempts to use technology for exam cheating, mobile addicted [9], [10], learners get disconnected from the real world, and many others.…”
