Content Prefetching of Mobile Caching Devices in Cooperative D2D Communication Systems

Abstract: The increase of mobile traffic volume in a wireless network using high carrier frequency can lead to coverage and backhaul bottleneck issues, and these issues can be solved by the use of device-todevice (D2D) caching technology that installs a content cache on a device and uses D2D communication to supply contents to other devices. In this paper, a special device that can supply contents using D2D communication to other devices is called a helper, while a device that can receive contents from a helper is calle… Show more

“…By integrating MEC with SCAC, we can further enhance content caching and delivery, ensuring the framework remains effective even as network architectures evolve. Additionally, the introduction of local storage-equipped helpers can enhance SCAC's local sharing performance 42 . These helpers, which may include fixed devices or mobile entities like vehicles, improve the overall efficiency of content distribution.…”

“…Wang et al 17 introduce an energy‐aware caching strategy in D2D communication, thereby improving the weighted transmission delay of the system. In addition to the delay, the cache strategy can also improve the cache hit rate by considering the user preferences, 18,19 context content, 20 and total energy consumption 21 …”

In addition to the delay, the cache strategy can also improve the cache hit rate by considering the user preferences, 18,19 context content, 20 and total energy consumption. 21 A traditional analysis of the D2D cache network based on the physical interference model cannot solve the dynamic problems such as uneven distribution of devices, time-varying popular content and inconsistent size of user cache.…”

“…Although the total number of contents is huge, the capacity of a cache installed on a base station or a device is limited. Therefore, it is crucial to improve the efficiency of caches [12][13][14][15].…”
