Content Centric Network-based Virtual Private Community

Abstract: While the majority of Internet traffic is becoming of high quality multimedia variety, also mostly generated by consumers themselves, efficient content sharing with intuitive useability and security measure in a mobile environment remains an elusive goal. In this paper, we present a Content-Centric Networking (CCN) based Virtual Private Community (VPC) service which aims at supporting intuitive content sharing experience in a secure and distributed manner. VPC is a hierarchical and closed user group which cons… Show more

“…3, the pipelining effect can be substantially reduced, which results in under-utilization of Data transmission link. This problem becomes even more severe if CCN is deployed over mobile devices because uplink usage will become heavier by more frequent sharing of disseminated contents over uplink cellular transmission channel in a social networking context [6]. The main objective of the proposed solution is to deliver multiple Data messages to the content requestor with only one Interest message without violating the operational principle of the original CCN protocol where one Interest message has to be pending per one Data message.…”

“…Another social networking aspect of information‐centric networks is introduced in , where the authors are devising a hierarchical naming scheme for creating Virtual Private Communities among users, such as family, friends and so on. Requests in that context can be expressed either for specific files or for browsing remote content, without any prior knowledge of the particular device hosting the actual files, thereby allowing seamless integration of the several devices that are nowadays used for this reason (e.g.…”

“…In order to locate desired content or range of relevant content names within a group of CCN-enabled devices such as VPC (Virtual Private Community) in [3], a tree-based browsing model is implemented with an 1:n Control Interest mechanism. available under such content prefix, e.g., CCN://AliceHome/Alice/*.C.I.*Browsing.…”

“…Such gap between content-centric requirements and underlying hostcentric network plumbing results in various architectural and performance inefficiencies in scalability, security, flexibility, and mobility. For this reason, research on Content-Centric Networking (CCN) has gained considerable attention in recent years, and is regarded as a promising paradigm for the future Internet [1,3,4]. This network architecture is based on named and signed data networking and provides significant traffic reduction on content dissemination.…”
