Content and network-aware multicast over wireless networks

Abstract: Abstract-This paper proposes content and network-aware redundancy allocation algorithms for channel coding and network coding to optimally deliver data and video multicast services over error prone wireless mesh networks. Each network node allocates redundancies for channel coding and network coding taking in to account the content properties, channel bandwidth and channel status to improve the end-to-end performance of data and video multicast applications. For data multicast applications, redundancies are al… Show more

“…It signifies the suitability of the proposed S-RLNC-MGM model towards multimedia data transmission or multicast over LTE/LTE-A protocol standard. Recently, authors [55] developed a practical network coding (PNC) scheme for content and network aware multimedia multicast. Though, our work exploits multicast nature of the PNC proposed in [55], the implementation of our proposed S-RLNC-MGM model enables better performance in terms of multimedia data transmission.…”

“…The sophistication of services emerges the complexity in different aspects of the telecommunication domain. The restricted resources in telecommunication required to allocate and utilize in a paradigmatic manner [191]. Furthermore, the subscriber-user agreements with their complexities must compatible with scalability requirements with future elastic demands.…”

“…Specifically, VR/AR/MR applications require high data rates beyond 20 Gbps and round-trip overthe-air latency beneath 1 ms with high network reliability and availability [38]. On the other hand, multimedia IoT systems require efficient communication of captured footage to servers to perform video analytics for behavior analysis and event detection [85]. These demands should be catered by B5G networks.…”
