Abstract

Preterm birth (PTB) continues to be the leading cause of perinatal morbidity and mortality globally. 1 Interventions such as the use of vaginal progesterone, insertion of a cervical cerclage, or a vaginal pessary are practiced widely to attempt to reduce PTB. Two recently published systematic reviews 2,3 have looked at the comparative effectiveness of progesterone, pessary, and cervical cerclage in preventing PTB in singleton pregnancies 2 and in twin pregnancies, 3 respectively.In the first systematic review 2 of 36 randomized trials and 9425 singleton pregnancies, progesterone ranked best in preventing PTB
