Contemporary conditional cancer‐specific survival rates in surgically treated adrenocortical carcinoma patients: A stage‐specific analysis

Abstract: Background and Objectives: We examined the effect of disease-free interval (DFI) duration on cancer-specific mortality (CSM)-free survival, otherwise known as the effect of conditional survival, in surgically treated adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) patients. Methods: Within the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database (2004−2018), 867 ACC patients treated with adrenalectomy were identified.Conditional survival estimates at 5-years were assessed based on DFI duration and according to stage at presenta… Show more

“…To date, prognosis improvement was recorded in surgically treated patients, according to increased DFI duration in several urological, [3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10] as well nonurological malignancies. 11,12 However, no previous investigators focused on surgically treated (radical urethrectomy) conditional CSM-free survival benefit after accounting for DFI in PUC patients, in a stage-specific fashion.…”

“…Third, conditional survival analyses computed CSM-free survival rate at fine years, according to DFI duration of 12, 24, and 36 months, within each stage grouping. According to previous methodology, 3,10,12 conditional survival was calculated as the probability of surviving for X additional years, given a DFI of y months. All tests were two-sided, with a significance level set at p < 0.05.…”

“…This improvement was more pronounced in stage IV patients [ 23 ]. Panunzio et al [ 24 ] also using the SEER database, the survival probability of patients with adrenocortical carcinoma treated with surgery was found to increase with the duration of the disease-free interval. Patients with stage III disease showed the most significant improvement [ 24 ].…”

The 3-year survival rate for colorectal liver metastasis patients with perineural invasion (PNI) [ 25 ] on pathological was 46.4% and the patients without PNI were 68.6%.…”
