“…The heavy metal pollution in marine sediments, beaches, and seashells along the Red Sea coast was investigated using numerous authors (Abdelkader et al, 2018 ; Attia & Ghrefat, 2013 ; El-Metwally et al, 2019 ; El-Sorogy et al, 2012 ; Madkour, 2005 ; Madkour et al, 2012 ; Mansour et al, 2011 ; Philobbos et al, 1983 ; Ramadan & Zaid, 2013 ; Redwan & Rammlmair, 2017 ; Salem et al, 2014 ; Temraz & El-Sawey, 2017 ). The overall contamination came from lithologic nature and anthropogenic activities such as land filling, oil pollution, and utilizing antifouling and anticorrosive paints from the fishing and shipping processes of phosphate ore.…”

“…Mansour et al (2013) suggested that several anthropogenic and natural disturbances influence the marine environment of the Hurghada area including pollution by: oil spills, wastewater discharge, effluents of desalination plants, and building activities along the seashore, marine traffic, and landfilling and dredging operations. In addition, several studies on marine surface sediments of the Egyptian Red Sea have been carried out (Madkour et al 2012). The marine environment of the Hurghada coastal area has suffered substantial environmental impact from anthropogenic activities due to the increasing population growth and the rapid development taking place in the tourism industry and their negative impacts on the marine environment (Mansour et al 2013).…”

“…An extended reef flat with seagrass and seaweed beds suitable for fish and shellfish breeding characterises this site. 13 Safier Hotel area is one of Hurghada resorts which is located 8 km south of Hurghada at 27° 12' 14" N, and 33° 51' 07" E, seen in Figure 1. Most of the activities taking place in the area are landfilling, dredging and reclamation of the intertidal zone.…”
