Mariano et al (2010) for the period 2002 to 2007 reported similar phosphorus concentrations for Tranca Grande (27 ± 2.05 µg/L), but higher phosphorus concentrations for Pomacocha (98 ± 34 µg/L) and Tipicocha (146 ± 5.0 µg/L) Lakes. In our study, the minor concentration of phosphorus found in both lakes may be attributed to the fact that both lakes were not used as much for farming fish in floating cages because there was a massive mortality of trout in Tipicocha (Peru, 2005).…”

The study assessed the trophic state of three lakes used as fish farms in the region of Junín-Peru, under different hydrological conditions. Surface water samples were collected from three points at each lake in 2018 during the rainy (March-April) and dry (June-July) seasons. Total phosphorus, turbidity, and chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) were measured. Trophic indexes (TSI Chl-a, and TSI TP) were also computed. The water trophic state categorization was performed by adapting and calculating the Trophic State Index (TSI). The TSI (TP) classified the three lakes in both seasons (rainy and dry) as mesotrophic (30 < TSI ≤ 60). Pomacocha and Tipicocha were classified as eutropic (60 < TSI ≤ 90) in the two seasons according to TSI (Chl a), while Tranca Grande was classified as mesotrophic (also two seasons). The results for TSI showed a predominance of eutrophic and mesotrophic conditions in all lakes used as fish farms.

En este artículo se estimaron los desperdicios totales procedentes de la producción de trucha arcoíris, Oncorhynchus mykiss Walbaum (Salmoniformes: Salmonidae), en el lago de Tota, ecosistema de agua dulce ubicado en el departamento de Boyacá (Colombia), y su potencial impacto sobre este. La producción de trucha se desarrolla de manera intensiva en dicho lago desde 2005, utilizando jaulas inmersas. Con datos obtenidos de la Autoridad Nacional de Acuicultura y Pesca (Aunap), la Corporación Autónoma Regional de Boyacá (Corpoboyacá) y la Cámara de Comercio de Sogamoso, se identificaron los piscicultores, su ubicación geográfica en el lago y la producción autorizada de las fincas. Con esta información se calculó la cantidad de desperdicios producidos y las cantidades de nitrógeno y fósforo generados en este proceso. Según los resultados obtenidos, se evidencia la contaminación del lago por la producción intensiva de trucha y se recomienda mejorar o modificar los métodos de producción para minimizar la contaminación del agua.

The diversity of the riparian vegetation of five high Andean lagoons of the Junin region was evaluated between March and December of 2017. The sampling of the riparian vegetation was carried out by means of the transect method. The unidentified species were collected for later identification in the herbarium. The diversity was determined by floristic composition, abundance and frequency, and by species richness indices of Simpson and Shannon-Wiener. In the Pomacocha Lagoon, the floristic composition was represented by 43 species, distributed in 15 families, with the most abundant species being Aciachne pulvinata, Azorella crenata and Geranium sessiliflorum and the most frequent Aciachne pulvinata. In the Laguna Tragadero, the floristic composition was represented by 17 species, distributed in 10 families, with the most abundant species being Pennisetum clandestinum and Eleocharis sp and the most frequent Polypogon interruptus. In the Cucancocha Lagoon, the floristic composition was represented by 19 species, distributed in 7 families, with the most abundant species being Calamagrostis sp and Wernberia humbellata and the one of most frequent Carex ecuadorica. In the Incacocha Lagoon, the floristic composition was represented by 22 species, distributed in 11 families, with the most abundant and frequent species being Alchemilla pinnata. In the Ñahuinpuquio Lagoon, the floristic composition was represented by 20 species, distributed in 9 families, with the most abundant species being Pennisetum clandestinum and the most frequent species Pennisetum clandestinum, Juncus arcticus and Muhlenbergia andina. The results obtained contribute data on the diversity of riparian vegetation of high Andean wetlands in the Junin region, Peru.
