“…Important to acknowledge in our results is the inter-center variability in the proportion of cases deemed high likelihood of abuse. As previously noted, variability in CAP assessments may stem from the nuanced nature of CAP decision-making (Asnes et al, 2021), variability in using a rating scale (Lindberg et al, 2008), or differences in clinical environments such as the threshold for consulting with a CAP. Our limited univariate analysis was unable to detect which patient demographic or clinical variables might explain this variability, though the near-significance of ocular injuries and number of injury types is deserving of further study.…”

“…When medical literature is insufficient to raise or lower the concern for abuse, the role of the CAP may be to assess the likelihood of abuse along a spectrum and help multi-disciplinary colleagues accept diagnostic uncertainty (Moles & Asnes, 2014). While evidence-based guidelines exist to assist in CAP medical decision-making and assessments (Christian, 2015), the critical thought needed to make such assessments is nuanced (Asnes et al, 2021). There is no single scale that is validated for communicating perceived likelihood of abuse.…”

“…On the other hand, relational violence is a type of violence executed by peers or friends that we are intimated with. It can also be described as acts that destroy a personal commitment to the people or community where they belong ( Asnes et al., 2021 ; Krigel and Benjamin, 2020 ; Schaaf and McCanne, 1998 ). Stigma and problems with transparency have made it impossible to examine these aspects of gender-based abuse, but in this study, I have provided more studies on the place and doers of sexual violence.…”

“…Several studies have indicated that violence against females is predominant in African nations ( Muluneh et al., 2020 , 2021 ). However, the most prevalent forms of socio-cultural GBV in Ethiopia are rape, domestic violence, female genital mutilation, and marriage by abductions account for 71%, 73%, and 70.5%, respectively ( Asnes et al., 2021 ). Other forms of violence are making women a means of trafficking to prostitution, verbal abuse, sexual harassment, and corporal and emotional acts of violence traced as the major.…”

“…Moreover, previous studies have found that exposure to CT has long-term consequences (4), including depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), self-injurious behaviors, and suicidal behavior (5)(6)(7)(8). Three varieties of CT are frequently acknowledged: emotional abuse (EA), physical abuse (PA), and sexual abuse (SA) (7,(9)(10)(11)(12). Globally, the prevalence of child SA varies from 2 to 62%, while the annual prevalence of PA ranges from 4 to 16%, and around 10% of children experience EA or neglected abuse (13).…”
