Construction of Urban Design Support System using Cloud Computing Type Virtual Reality and Case Study

Abstract: Abstract:This paper contributes a design support system based on cloud-computing type virtual reality (cloud-based VR) for urban planning and urban design. A platform for Cloud-based VR technology, i.e. a VR-Cloud server, is used to open a VR dataset to public collaboration over the Internet. The digital attributes representing the design scheme of design concepts includes the land use zone, building regulations, urban design style, and other design details of architectural design, landscape, and traffic/archi… Show more

“…Debasis et al [8] conducted a study using an integrated cloud-based Internet of Things platform for asset management of elevated metro rail projects; Mehdi et al [9] developed a mobile application prototype for on-site information management; and Yoon [10] studied a cloud computing adoption strategy to improve BIM utilization at the construction site. Ali and Majid [11] conducted a study on providing the BIM data for construction sites in real time by utilizing cloud-based RFID technology; and Zhenhan et al [12] studied a system that supports urban design by using cloud-based virtual reality (VR) technology. In addition, Chung and Kang [13] developed a cloud-based bridge monitoring application that stores and utilizes data generated from bridge operations.…”

“…The digital attributes of his design plan include design details such as land use area, building restrictions, urban design style, architectural design, landscape, and traffic/built environment/ sun/wind/noise simulation. Next, the application practice of cloud-based virtual reality city design support system is divided into three application cases: synchronization, decentralized synchronization, and decentralized asynchronous [3].…”

“…Landscape planning is often based on existing environment, and landscape design and its realization are to closely integrate design content with surrounding environment [1]. Traditional sand table, model and computer-aided design technology all cannot integrate planning and design into entire planning scenes and design processes, and cannot efficiently, intuitively and coordinately express planning and design effects of multiple schemes and large scenes [2]. With the comprehensive application of computer technology, network communication technology and graphics technology, urban information construction combines multimedia networks, geographic information systems (GIS) and other infrastructure platforms to combine urban information resources and realize urban digitization.…”
