Construction of g-C3N4-mNb2O5 Composites with Enhanced Visible Light Photocatalytic Activity

Abstract: A series of composites consisting of g-C3N4 sheet and mesoporous Nb2O5 (mNb2O5) microsphere were fabricated by in situ hydrolysis deposition of NbCl5 onto g-C3N4 sheet followed by solvothermal treatment. The samples were characterized using powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), N2 adsorption-desorption, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL). … Show more

“…The second emission band in TiO 2 , ZnO, and Nb 2 O 5 PL emission spectra represents green emission caused by oxygen vacancies and surface defects. The green emission is quite strong because of radial recombination between photogenerated holes with trap electrons at the oxygen vacancies. …”

“…UV‐vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy measurements estimate the bandgap of the catalysts, which is essential to determine if the catalysts can be exited in the visible‐region . The direct optical band position of the g‐C 3 N 4 and Nb 2 O 5 was estimated from the αhν =B (hν−E g ) 1/2 using the Tauc and grigovici formula .…”

“…A Biorad©Aminex HPX-87 sugar column was employed at 35 Figure 1 shows the FT-IR spectra of SBA-15, NH 2 -SBA-15 and xPMo/NH 2 -SBA-15 catalysts. A broad band ranging from 3000 to 3600 cm −1 and a band around 1620 cm −1 observed for all samples is attributed to the vibration of O-H of physisorbed water [34,35]. Compared with SBA-15, NH 2 -SBA-15 had two new peaks at 2950 and 1520 cm −1 , which were assigned to the stretching mode of C-H and bending mode of N-H, respectively, indicating that the aminopropyl groups were successfully grafted on the surface of SBA-15 [34,36].…”
