Construction of Flower-like PtOx@ZnO/In2O3 Hollow Microspheres for Ultrasensitive and Rapid Trace Detection of Isopropanol

Abstract: The design of a highly effective isopropanol gas sensor with high response and trace detection capability is extremely important for environmental surveillance and human health. Here, novel flower-like PtO x @ZnO/In2O3 hollow microspheres were prepared by a three-step approach. The hollow structure was composed of an In2O3 shell inside and layered ZnO/In2O3 nanosheets outside with PtO x nanoparticles (NPs) on the surface. Meanwhile, the gas sensing performances of the ZnO/In2O3 composite with different Zn/In … Show more

“…The Pt NPs facilitate the dissociation of O 2 molecules into adsorbed oxygen (O − ) through the "spillover effect", increasing the concentration of adsorbed oxygen (Figure 5c). Therefore, ZPNiIn possessed more surface-adsorbed oxygen, which is favorable to promote the active sites for enhancing the gas-sensing properties [48]. The characterization results of XPS also confirmed that the adsorbed oxygen content of ZPNiIn increased (Table S1).…”

“…As the Pt content increased to 0.25 and 0.50 wt%, the peaks of 25PtZI and 50Pt samples at 39.76, 46.24, and 67.45° confirm the existence of Pt NPs (111), (200), and (22 (JCPDS No. 04-0802) planes [32], respectively. To substantiate the synergetic crystalline structure, the FT-IR measurement was employed for the as-synthesized samples.…”

“…The extensive use of IPA may cause damage to the eyes, respiratory tract, kidneys, and central nervous system. 4 Moreover, IPA has also been proposed as one of the biomarkers in breath analysis for the detection of lung cancer. 5 The traditional approach to detect IPA is gas chromatography (GC), which separates the gaseous components based on the differential retention properties of the chromatographic column for different components and then quantifies the content through a detector.…”
