Construction of Community Biophilia Rehabilitation Network for the Disabled Elderly

The number of stroke patients has increased year by year in many countries, as the population ages and fewer babies are born. Most of stroke patients require a rehabilitation after the onset of stroke. Many researchers and companies in most of countries have been studying new rehabilitation systems. The systems include the approach of Brain Machine Interface (BMI), rehabilitation supported robot and so on. It seems that those systems target at higher socioeconomic group in wealthy countries. Since the stroke patients are not necessarily wealthy, it is necessary to make other solution for the non-wealthy groups. Biophilia Rehabilitation Academy (BRA) in Japan have been constructing the new rehabilitation system with easy and cheap devices, which is so-called "Takizawa method". The proposed method enable that the burden of PT will decrease by contrast of the traditional method, since one physical therapist (PT) treats several rehabilitation patient. In the future rehabilitation, each patient will select a favorite solution among many rehabilitation systems.

The Present and Future of Research bythe International Biophilia Rehabilitation Academy

The goal of Biophilia Rehabilitation Academy (BRA) is to clarify the relation between a brain function and a paralysis, and to perform the therapy of stroke patients using the knowledge of the previous researches. Before now, I have proposed that doctors diagnose the recovery level of paralysis by measuring brain function at rehabilitation as well as by rehabilitation scores, and give the adequate medical treatment to the patients. In the 12th International Biophilia Rehabilitation Conference at Keio university, the research group of BRA started with endeavor that our contribution reaches in one of the medical science. I show in this report about the previous, current and future researches by the international Biophilia Rehabilitation Academy. Although many researchers have made effective devices for rehabilitation in some countries, most of the devices are expensive and requires some infrastructures. Our investigative group has tried to make a system of rehabilitation with cheap and effective devices, which we call it "Takizawa method". The exercises in Takizawa method is motivative exercise, and the traditional method in rehabilitation is passive exercise. We think that Takizawa method will be a standard rehabilitation system in the future in many countries.

Our studies have been proceeded to recognize that RCT is required as a result. We have tried to hold the meeting of the randomized controlled trial (RCT) between Motivative Exercise by oneself and Passive Exercise by a physical therapist about the restructuring of the rehabilitation medicine. Fortunately, the opportunity will be made, and RCT will be implemented in Riga by the international study with the Rehabilitation department of the Social Integration State Agency, Latvia since preparation through the workshop 2017 in Riga held last year. Let join our study; the supplementary examination is important for every study. We welcome your participation if possible. Participation is free. And also we are glad to hold the meeting at your place for showing the result of our previous endeavor and the details of enforcement if you want.
