Construction of a multipole wiggler, MPW♯13, at the Photon Factory

Abstract: An insertion device, MPW♯13, which can be operated in both wiggler and undulator modes, is presently under construction at the Photon Factory (PF). When installed in the PF storage ring, this device will produce wiggler radiation in the hard x-ray region, and also undulator radiation in the vacuum-ultraviolet (VUV) and soft x-ray regions. The wiggler structure employs 27 magnetic poles with a period length of 18 cm. The maximum peak field of the device of 1.5 T is attained via the hybrid configuration of its m… Show more

“…Resistivity measurements reveal MI transition at T MI ϭ60 K for PrRu 4 XANES measurements were performed in a fluorescence mode at BL13B station of Photon Factory on the Pr L 2 -edge and at BL10XU of SPring-8 on the Ce L 3 edge. At the Photon Factory, we have used a 27-pole wiggler magnet 12 and a Si ͑111͒ double crystal monochromator, which is directly water-cooled. 13 In order to avoid the degradation of energy resolution due to distortion of Si monochromator as a result of heat load, incident x-ray intensity was suppressed to 2/3 of the full power by limiting the magnetic field of the 27-pole wiggler magnet to B 0 ϭ1.0 T where B 0 ϭ1.5 T provided the maximum beam intensity.…”

“…The grazing angle is 2 for M1, M3 and M3 0 , and the including angles are 174.9 and 171.3 for the 300 and 1000 lines mm À1 VLSGs at 290 eV. A planar undulator is used as the source point (Sasaki et al, 1989). The undulator gap is fixed at 154 mm during cleaning and photon intensity measurements, unless otherwise stated.…”
