Construction of a microcomputer controlled near normal incidence reflectance spectroelectrochemical system and its performance evaluation

Abstract: bration gave y = 1.21 and Ts = 3.7%.Although some space on the photoplate is required for recording the germanium exposures, it is compensated by the provision of suitable plate calibration data, irrespective of the composition of the sample. A possible disadvantage is that, using Ge2+, the y and T6 values obtained specify the calibration over a narrow region of the mass range. However, in practice, it is rarely possible to obtain adequate calibration data over the entire mass range using internal elements. Th… Show more

“…The cell was configured in a near normal incidence reflectance mode using a bifurcated quartz optical fiber. [16][17][18] The white-light beam was brought onto the electrode surface via one branch of the bifurcated optical fiber from the light source such that the beam would be near normal to the surface. Reflected light from the electrode surface (area = 0.30 cm 2 ) was then guided into a grating through another branch, which dispersed the white beam onto the CCD array detector.…”

“…The cell was also thermostatted to permit operation down to −40 • C and, since no epoxy glue was used in the construction, the cell was useful for nonaqueous solvent electrochemistry. The Salbeck cell uses bifurcated optical fiber bundles as in a previous cell design [159]. A much more sophisticated and expensive design features stepper motor control of the electrode-window distance, Fig.…”
