Construction of a high-quality genomic BAC library for Chinese peanut cultivar Zhonghua 8 with high oil content

Abstract: BackgroundArachis hypogaea L. (2n = 4× = 40, AABB) is one of the most important oil and economic crop plants in the word. This species has the largest genome size of about 2,813 Mb among the oil crop species. Zhonghua 8 is a peanut cultivar planted widely in central China and has several superior traits including high oil content, high yield and disease resistance. A high-quality BAC library of Zhonghua 8 was constructed for future researches on the genomics of Chinese peanut cultivars.ResultsA Hin d III-diges… Show more

“…Peanut ( Arachis hypogaea L.) is one of the most important widely grown oil-crops, providing 20% of the global cooking oil and 11% of protein production annually 1 . After flowering and fertilization of peanuts, a novel organ called a peg (which is an elongated ovary) forms 2 .…”

“…In this study, using RNA-seq profiling, the differentially expressed genes of peanut shells and kernels were identified under Ca 2+ sufficient and deficient conditions. This study had three major purposes: (1) to compare the DEGs of shells and seed kernels of peanut plants between free Ca 2+ sufficient and free Ca 2+ deficient treatments; (2) to identify candidate genes involved in peanut embryo and shell development processes and affected by Ca 2+ ;…”

“…Peanut ( Arachis hypogaea L.) is an economic crop that contributes 20% to the global oil production and 11% of the protein supply per year (Chen et al, 2014 ). Aerial flowering and underground development of fruit are special genetic characteristics of peanuts, and the ecological environment of dark, moist and mechanical stimulation is essential conditions for pod development.…”
