Constructing Silence

Abstract

Thank you to my dad and sister for journeying with me through the sites I visited over their Christmas and New Years holiday, sometimes confronting very somber and difficult histories but always engaged with and supportive towards my research. Thank you to my mom for the space, sustenance, and sunlight over spring break, and for always being a phone call away, especially when times were trying. Thank you to my friends, those back home who live in the places I write about, cheering from afar, and to those right next door. To my fellow CSSers, including Nick and Adam, thank you for always providing some light relief. Keith, we have been on this twin-journey together from the beginning and I wouldn't change a thing.
