Constructing scalable Internet of Things services based on their event‐driven models

Abstract: SUMMARYEven though many IoT (Internet of Things) applications have been implemented based on distributed events, how to construct scalable IoT services is still unclear. In this paper, we first discuss representing physical entities as IoT resources in the cyber world and integrate them into IoT services and then use an event session mechanism to express the coordination logic in an IoT service system. Given their eventdriven models, the scalable IoT services are constructed through decoupling one service at b… Show more

“…This concept of process distribution becomes relevant in the IoT world, requiring that each fragment of the business process can be executed independently but maintaining distributed consistency and the relationship between events. As defined in Zhang and Chen (2015) and Zhang et al (2014), the decoupled, atomic, and event-based nature of IoT services leads to an approach that takes into account the high concurrency of services and the distributed execution of business processes that they orchestrate.…”

“…Sempre que um membro precisa se comunicar com outro, ele simplesmente publica ou produz um evento. Nãoé necessário conhecer a identidade dos possíveis consumidores [Zhang and Chen 2015]. Dessa forma, a comunicação de vários membros e a execução de diversas pequenas funcionalidades distribuídas podem resultar da notificação de umúnico evento.…”
