“…According to some studies [ 18 , 20 - 22 ], the most common causes of pericardial constriction were idiopathic or viral (42-49%), post-cardiotomy (11-37%), post-radiation (9-31%), connectivitis (3-7%), post-infectious including tuberculosis (3-6%) and other uncommon causes (<10%) including neoplasia, thoracic trauma, uremic pericarditis, asbestosis, sarcoidosis and the administration of certain drugs. Constrictive pericarditis post-cardiotomy is common in Western countries, it occurs after a few months to a few years after any cardiac surgery, particularly valve replacement and coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) [ 23 , 24 ].
