Constraining cosmology with a new all-sky Compton parameter map from the Planck PR4 data

Hideki Tanimura,
Marian Douspis,
Nabila Aghanim
et al.

Abstract: We constructed a new all-sky Compton parameter map (𝑦-map) of the thermal Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (tSZ) effect from the 100 to 857 GHz frequency channel maps delivered within the Planck data release 4. The improvements in terms of noise and systematic effects translated into a 𝑦-map with a noise level smaller by ∼7% compared to the maps released in 2015, and with significantly reduced survey stripes. The produced 2020 𝑦-map is also characterized by residual foreground contamination, mainly due to thermal dust em… Show more

“…Accurate measurements of gas profiles at the cluster outskirts -particularly near and beyond the one-to-two-halo transition regime -improve the modelling needed in studies of the tSZ autocorrelation and cross-correlations with galaxy, galaxy cluster, or weak lensing catalogs (e.g., Hill & Pajer 2013;Hajian et al 2013;Ma et al 2015;Vikram et al 2017;Hojjati et al 2017;Horowitz & Seljak 2017;Osato et al 2018;Hill et al 2018;Pandey et al 2019;Osato et al 2020;Pandey et al 2020;Shirasaki et al 2020;Pandey et al 2021;Gatti et al 2021;Tanimura et al 2021); such studies can provide strong constraints on both cosmological and astrophysical parameters.…”

“…Accurate measurements of gas profiles at the cluster outskirts -particularly near and beyond the one-to-two-halo transition regime -improve the modelling needed in studies of the tSZ auto-correlation (e.g., Hill & Pajer 2013;Horowitz & Seljak 2017;Tanimura et al 2021) as well as tSZ cross-correlations with galaxy and galaxy cluster positions (e.g., Hajian et al 2013;Vikram et al 2017;Hill et al 2018;Pandey et al 2019Pandey et al , 2020, with weak lensing shears (e.g., Ma et al 2015;Hojjati et al 2017;Osato et al 2018Osato et al , 2020Shirasaki et al 2020;Gatti et al 2021;Pandey et al 2021), or with X-ray luminosity (Shirasaki et al 2020); such studies can provide strong and complementary constraints on both cosmological and astrophysical parameters.…”
