Consolidation Methods of Romanian Historical Building with Composite Materials

Abstract: Timisoara is a growing city in the western part of Romania, in a seismic area, with a lot of masonry buildings with historical and cultural value, with interesting structural elements such as vaults, arches, slabs, walls, that were affected by earthquakes, subsidence of foundations, negative human actions or lack of interventions. Masonry historical structures in Banat seismic area present particular failure mechanisms, so there is a need for new, modern, fast, easy-to-apply and reversible consolidation method… Show more

“…Based on the results of seismic evaluation studies, it is very often required the seismic retroffiting or at least the seismic upgrading of masonry constructions. Therefore, in order to avoid building collapses and consequent human victims, over the years various traditional (Italian Ministers Council Presidency Decree (DPCM), 2011 ;Formisano, 2014Formisano, , 2017Formisano and Marzo, 2017) and innovative (Bertolesi et al, 2017;Mosoarca et al, 2017;Ramaglia et al, 2018) intervention techniques have been developed.…”

“…Therefore, simplified procedures for simulated modal identification analysis of the inspected buildings are developed. In this regard, many mechanical models are analyzed in several scientific papers [4,5,9], where the uncertainties related to vulnerability factors are often considered to quantify the seismic response of the entire aggregate and to set up appropriate risk mitigation procedures [24,25].…”
