Consistent type IIB reductions to maximal 5D supergravity

Abstract: We use exceptional field theory as a tool to work out the full nonlinear reduction ansatz for the AdS 5 × S 5 compactification of IIB supergravity and its noncompact counterparts in which the sphere S 5 is replaced by the inhomogeneous hyperboloidal space H p;q . The resulting theories are the maximal 5D supergravities with gauge groups SOðp; qÞ. They are consistent truncations in the sense that every solution of 5D supergravity lifts to a solution of IIB supergravity. In particular, every stationary point and… Show more

“…Crucially, these gaugings respectively arise as consistent truncations of D = 11 supergravity on S 7 [4,5] and S 4 [6,7], and type IIB on S 5 , see [8][9][10]. By virtue of the consistency of these truncations, these maximal gauged supergravities describe the complete, nonlinear interactions of a fininite number of modes of M-theory or type IIB on the Freund-Rubin backgrounds [11] AdS 4 × S 7 , AdS 7 × S 4 and AdS 5 × S 5 , respectively, in a consistently decoupled way from other Kaluza-Klein (KK) modes.…”
