Consideration of Uncertainty in Virtual Product Design

Abstract: In design, manufacturing and usage of technical products uncertainty arises according to process properties and results in influence of products properties. In current CAD-systems, where products and product properties are presented, uncertainty is not considered yet. In this paper, we propose a new enhanced concept for the visualization of information about uncertainty in CAD-systems. The presentation of uncertainty is realized on basis of three-dimensional parametric models in a CAD-system and an implemented… Show more

“…Basically two possibilities to visualize knowledge from the presented experiments exist. Each possibility uses the front-end of an uncertainty-browser presented in [9,10]. The uncertaintybrowser contains the interpreted information about uncertain property, the according process and the allocation within the geometry model from the information model.…”

“…The uncertaintybrowser contains the interpreted information about uncertain property, the according process and the allocation within the geometry model from the information model. The geometry references are imported along the CAD-model structure and adapted with the ontology-based system [10]. For this the BRep structure is used.…”

“…The resulting parametric CAD-model structure can be used for furthermore simulations. For more details on parametric and knowledge-based CAD-design see Mosch, Sprenger and Anderl (2011). The design of the high heel, which is deduced by a mathematical optimization process, is created as a CAD-model.…”
