“…Nurse turnover has various antecedents, including effort‐reward imbalance (Li, Galatsch, Siegrist, Hans Müller, & Hasselhorn, ), psychosomatic complaints (Jourdain & Chênevert, ), reduced quality of care (Prapanjaroensin, Patrician, & Vance, ) professional commitment (Wong & Laschinger, ) and burnout (Boamah & Laschinger, ; Heinen et al., ; Kompier & Marcelissen, ). Moreover, burnout affects nurses’ professional commitment (Chang et al., ) and thus could initiate career changes or enhance intentions to leave the profession (Heinen et al., ).…”

“…The conceptual framework of current study is the 'Conservation of Resources (COR) theory' (Hobfoll, 1989). Among the existing theories that can be used in the present study, such as the neuman systems model and the nursing worklife model (Laschinger & Leiter, 2006), it seems that COR is the best model that can link the burnout to the organisational factors such as safety outcomes (Prapanjaroensin, Patrician, & Vance, 2017). According to COR, in health care organisations where work conditions are favourable, the staff are more satisfied with their profession, less likely to burnout and show higher quality of work (Gottlieb, Gottlieb, & Shamian, 2012;Rochefort & Clarke, 2010;Van Bogaert, van Heusden, Timmermans, & Franck, 2014).…”
