Connections between ε′/ε and rare kaon decays in supersymmetry

Abstract: We analyze the rare kaon decays K L → π 0 νν, K + → π + νν, K L → π 0 e + e − and K L → µ + µ − in conjunction with the CP violating ratio ε ′ /ε in a general class of supersymmetric models in which Z-and magnetic-penguin contributions can be substantially larger than in the Standard Model. We point out that radiative effects relate the double left-right mass insertion to the single left-left one, and that the phenomenological constraints on the latter reflect into a stringent bound on the supersymmetric contr… Show more

“…The hadronic matrix element of the chromomagnetic operator is affected by the same difficulties appearing in 2π|Q 6 |K 0 : beyond the lowest-order in the chiral expansion we expect large positive corrections from final-state interactions. Moreover, as pointed out in [23], higher order chiral corrections should remove the accidental m 2 π suppression in Eq. (18).…”

“…Then the small weak s → d transition proportional to Im λ t = O(λ 5 ) in (17) is replaced by a strong transition of order λ producing the necessary enhancement factor. A recent detailed analysis [50] has found an enhancement of ǫ ′ /ǫ through y 11 more likely than through y 8 . Finally in addition a mass splitting between up and down squarks also generates new ∆I = 3/2 contributions via box diagrams which likewise influence ǫ ′ /ǫ [51].…”

“…To compute the light-t R contribution we adopt the approach presented in ref. [27]. There the authors consider an expansion valid for unequal diagonal entries which gives exactly the MIA in the limit of complete degeneration.…”
